Top talent is today’s competitive differentiator, and in the race for talent, producing and retaining our region’s workforce will differentiate us from other global metros. The Chamber, along with our partners throughout the region, is ensuring that Charleston will be at the forefront of communities succeeding in the talent race.
In 2014, scholarships were awarded to 12 Career Academy students, funded through Accelerate Greater Charleston (AGC), the Chamber’s five-year regional investment strategy to accelerate progress and achievements in Talent, Innovation and Advocacy.
Career Academy students are able to apply for AGC scholarships which pay for the students’ two-year tuition and books at Trident Technical College to earn an Associate’s Degree in their career field, including STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), Business and IT, Culinary/Hospitality and Health Sciences. In spring of 2015, the Chamber awarded 15 AGC scholarships.
In spring of 2016, 75 students from the region’s Career Academies were awarded full scholarships to Trident Tech from the Charleston Metro Chamber, made possible by the 102 businesses who have invested in Accelerate Greater Charleston.

These scholarships are available to Career Academy students with a 2.0 to 2.9 GPA. These students don't qualify for the state lottery tuition assistance and many wouldn't have the ability to attend Trident Technical College on their own. The AGC Scholarships provide tuition, fees and books so that these students can graduate with a two-year degree and no student loan debt.
